Soho Grand Hotel

In the heart of Soho, this new structure rises 15 stories above some of the world's finest examples of turn-of-the-century cast iron industrial buildings. The new structure houses 367 guestrooms, a restaurant, bar and health club, and is known as a place to see and be seen amongst Manhattan's elite Downtown social set.

As the first major new construction to be undertaken in this landmark district in decades, The Soho Grand is an extremely visible project. Designed to both emulate and contemporize the distinctive and much admired architectural vocabulary of Soho. The hotel incorporates a wide range of materials, which mimic the neighborhood's aesthetics.

The challenge was to resurrect outdated construction techniques to recreate the unique elements of the project. The Grand needed to evoke the raw industrial feel of the district while achieving a high level of refinement and conveying an unmistakable sense of luxury.

Signature details include an enormous cast iron lobby staircase with classic bottle-glass perforations, and epoxy terrazzo floors designed to replicate exposed concrete, typical of the area.

With the experience and innovation, RCDolner delivered a building that surpassed the Client's expectations to become one of the most lauded new buildings in Manhattan's recent history.
